Watching Philip live his life in a radical way, in a way that represents a life dedicated to wholly serving God, has been exhilarating and challenging. This radical, sold out to God, lives a life is that displays what Jesus meant when he said in Matthew 16:25 “For whoever would save his life would lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Philips story shows this very thing by his selfless acts of kindness for others, even a world away in a war zone. He has discovered that Jesus love is an active love focused on recognizing a need, taking action, and inspiring others to follow suit. Philip has lost his life for Jesus sake. The story of how that has happened as shown in his book, is truly inspiring and challenges all of us to also “lose his life for my sake.” Only then for Jesus sake will we find it. Philip has found it in Jesus, through faith in Jesus saving power, then though that loss of self, through the act of serving others, no matter the cost. And God is truly glorified in the process.

I believe Philip has something to say. He wrote most of this book in Brazil while serving people who experienced catastrophic flooding. I first met my friend there as we served together. This book may have been written by one man, for one man, but it is all the people in between that may find benefits amongst its words too.
Like Jesus, author Philip Tenorio communicates through parables, stories, and relatable experiences. He plants a seed within our minds and hearts that is watered chapter after chapter. Not afraid to be vulnerable, readers are shown Philip’s own struggles. Whether raising his twins, struggling with addiction, divorce, and healthy outlets, and even being persuaded to farm on their small property, “40 Ways” was an uplifting, insightful, and gracious read.
Philip found the power of service to be the fix he needed to begin turning his life around. Through his missions, helping others, and finding a closeness to God, he shares his own path. Beginning with Secret Angel projects, Philip starts to understand the love, unity, and hope his service provides. As he branches out to Samaritan’s Purse, Philip’s service takes him close to home, traveling south, assisting in Ukraine, passing out gifts, and more. Through Samaritan’s Purse he’s gained training and experiences that have left profound changes in him, as well as those he met and aided along the way. The community, power of prayer, and the way people came together, through Philip’s experiences, have left me with a restored faith in humanity.
As “40 Ways” points out, there are many references to the number 40 throughout the Bible. But it is Philip’s 40th birthday that plants new life in him, and he uses his perspicacity to seed readers, showing us grace and stewardship through his life-giving words and perspective

I first encountered Philip at an American General Contractors Association gathering where he delivered a heartfelt speech, openly sharing his faith in God. This sincerity drew me to him as a friend. As our friendship blossomed, we formed a deep bond both through our shared passion for endurance sports and on a spiritual level, as we navigated the challenges of divorce and raising children as single fathers. It was this spiritual connection, especially through our children, that allowed us to experience and feel God’s love in the father-child relationship, which ultimately led us to the 1love movement. This movement was first inspired by Philip’s daughter, who experienced a “Marley Moment” during a father-daughter ski trip. It was a profound sense of reassurance that everything would be okay, as she was being cared for by a selfless person or God. We aspired to capture this essence of selfless love for others, so they too could have “Marley Moments” when a kind stranger offers help without expecting anything in return. I am truly grateful to have a friend like Philip, who has so generously given to his family, friends, and strangers alike, without any expectation of reciprocity. I hope we can all emulate this example and contribute to our community with love and kindness, without seeking anything in return.

My name is Mike Haynes, I am blessed to have the capacity to be the Chaplin of Ike Cole VFW Post 3370 in McIntosh NM. The reason I am writing this email is to give a Testimonial pertaining to Phillip Tenorio as a person and to support his book 40 Ways. It’s not every day that you come across someone such as Philip. When we first met, Philip was dispatched to some natural disaster that pertained to flooding somewhere. Even though Philip knew what God had planned for his future, he still took time away from this matter to assist our VFW POST in many different areas. During every aspect of our lives, God allowed us to discuss the power of a Sovereign God. As his time drew closer to deployment, Philip and I prayed daily for Grace of God to be more than sufficient for his spiritual needs during this moment for he and the personnel that deployed with him. During his operation, he and I had a dialog about the Holy Spirit and how it is ever present for usage any time his creation asks in and through the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. I give God the glory for using a vessel such as Philip to bring to light the power of a Sovereign God and the spiritual guidance through Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that all the blessings God has to offer be granted into Philip ‘s behalf as husband book goes public to be a written Testimony of the power of a Sovereign God and the freedom to be anything that God needs to Glorify His Kingdom.
